    I was on Plaquenil for 2 years and noticed a definite sensitivity when in the sun. When the sun touched my skin, it felt like battery acid or like I already had a terrible sunburn. I would also get any icy, prickly sensation if I spent a bunch of time in the sun. Have your blood work checked if you are on hydroxychloroquine for a long time. Talk with your doctor. Be careful if you have G6PD deficiency. Anemia may happen. This medicine may make you sunburn more easily. Use care if you will be in the sun. Tell your doctor if you sunburn easily while taking this drug. Headaches – Plaquenil can rarely cause a headache. Sun Sensitivity – Plaquenil can sometimes make the skin more sensitive to the sun.     Plaquenil - General - Sjogren's Syndrome Support Sep 05, 2016 I saw a rheumatologist finally today. She prescribed Plaquenil and drew 12 vials of blood to check my clotting factors and test for lupus, as well as a urine test to check my kidneys she said. My concern is if this med will cause me to gain weight. Since my TIΓ€ 1/03/16 I have gained almost 20 pounds and don't want to do anything to increase that.
