How does plaquenil help fight lupus

The Rheumatologists I saw were of the opinion that since I was already on steroids I just needed monitoring not any other meds. I was recently referred to a Rheumatologist by the Dr. She now wants me to start on Plaquenil, I am quite concerned because my eyes seemed to be the only system that still work fairly well.

I am a Lupus survivor. I refuse to be beaten by this autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation and pain. In the past it has attacked my lungs, joints, skin, and cognitive functioning, but still I persist in the fight. Now I have yet to put all of the symptoms of this disorder behind me, but I’m on my way. These medications may also prevent lupus from spreading to certain organs, such as the kidney and central nervous system your brain and spinal cord and may help to reduce flares by as much as 50%. Plaquenil and other anti-malarials are the key to controlling lupus long term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives. Plaquenil was very effective for me. The last 3 weeks I've been on a downhill slide, so my doctor has recommended Atabrine. I'm very fair skinned, so wonder how yellow I'll turn. Has anyone used this? Did it help their lupus? My main issue is joint pain and fatigue. I was only on 200 mg. dosage, but only weigh 115.

I used Darvocet for years with no side effects and was able to get out & live a semi-normal life. I asked her if the Plaquenil would help with the pain but she indicated it probably wouldn't.

Palladium nanoparticles induce autophagy and autophagic flux blockade. The dose- and size-dependent autophagy activation caused by PdNPs in Hela cells suggests that NP-induced autophagy can be modulated effectively to play an essential role in determining cell survival or death, while latent impairment of lysosomes and autophagic flux is a focus which should be taken into consideration before PdNPs are applied in.
