    Ocular safety of hydroxychloroquine

Plaquenil is less toxic than chloroquine; however, long-term use of either drug can result in macular toxicity, leading to devastating irreversible vision loss. The mechanism of this toxicity is not clearly understood, though it is believed that the drug molecule binds to melanin in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE).

Can you take plaquenil hydroxychloroquine if you have psoriasis. I am not sure what. P. A. is. I personally do not use plaquenil hydroxychloroquine for psoriasis as it has been link with causing flare or outbreak for psoriasis. I would recommend to choose other DMARDs or biological esp there are a lot of choices now.
