    Plaquenil 6 months

I developed congestive heart failure and was taken off all RA meds except prednisone for a year. For years, I have been complaining to any of my doctors, who would listen, about the dizziness. I went back to my rheumatologist and he prescribed plaquenil again. In the beginning ( The first year or two) It really helped, with my symptoms, with lupus. This past two years, the dizziness has now, turned in to vertigo.

The most conservative opinion would include exams every 6 months with repeat visual fields every 6 to 12 months. My general feeling is to perform annual exams with visual field testing. One study determined that the risk of retina toxicity when patients are taking less than 6.5 mg per kilograms per day is rare. How to tell if the drug is working For rheumatoid arthritis, you should have reduced joint inflammation and you should be able to move better within 6 months of starting the medication. For lupus. Usually Plaquenil related hair loss starts 2-6 months after the Plaquenil was started. We call this a drug induced telogen effluvium. If the Plaquenil was started 10 years ago and a patient reports hair loss last month, it’s not very likely that the Plaquenil is the culprit.

Now, that I have read this site, explanation of plaquenil, I think the mystery is solved. After taking it for 6 weeks, I had shortness of breath so I stopped taking it. Again, I have been trying to find out , what have been causing the vertigo.

Immunodeficiency disorders is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 60+ old, have been taking the drug for 6 - 12 months, also take medication Humira, and have Mixed connective tissue disease. After a month my severe muscle pains went down from an average of 15 incidents per month, to 6 per month, and after a few more months, to just 2-3 per month. I had never gone through even one month of such drastically reduced muscle pain in the 4 years since it started. Usually Plaquenil related hair loss starts 2-6 months after the Plaquenil was started. Doxycycline and Alcohol - Is It An Exception To The Rule. Almost every other type of antibiotic comes with a warning against taking alcohol in combination with this antibiotic. Patients that are prescribed doxycycline are quick to notice the difference and commonly ask whether this means it is safe to mix doxycycline and drinking.
